simfy is Germany's largest music platform and the market leader for online music solutions. Originally developed in 2006 by then-students Christoph Lange and Steffen Wicker to compare music download prices, simfy.de users today can access more than 8 million streamed songs, listen to music and compile playlists. The site is financed through advertising and a flat rate for music. The simfy AG was founded in November 2008 by Georg Bergheim and Gerrit Schumann which serve as managing directors. The brand family includes simfy, simfy live and simfy for brands.
In October 2010, Holtzbrinck Digital gave its online music services steereo into simfy AG and subsequently took a stake in the company in exchange.
